The achievements of Maureen FitzSimons when she was a teenager in America (which we call Maureen O'Hara today) would have definitely put her into the child-prodigy category. This is a natural quality for a woman who was of Irish heritage, that was surrounded during her early days by talented family members and parents. Maureen entered into this nurturing home on the 17th of August 20 in Ranelagh. Marguerita FitzSimons was an accomplished contralto. Charles FitzSimons was a successful businessman from Dublin who also owned a part of the Irish Shamrock Rovers, a soccer club in Ireland. Maureen was the second of six FitzSimons children - Peggy, Florrie, Charles B. Fitzsimons, Margot Fitzsimons and James O'Hara completed this beautiful family. Maureen was a star athlete and enjoyed playing rough sports. Her ability to perform was the perfect match for her love of sports. As evidenced by receiving nearly every Feis award for drama or performances in the theater that her nation offered. In the age of 14she was admitted to the Abbey Theater, where her goal was to study the art of opera and classical theatre.
